Summary
Not that long ago, Sherlock had said, "Mary and John: whatever it takes, whatever happens, from now on I swear I will always be there, always, for all three of you."
He is keeping his vow.
Following a catastrophic auto accident, John has been holding vigil at the hospital, where Mary is comatose in the ICU, and his premature daughter lies in the NICU. Sherlock is a constant presence at his side as John navigates a difficult situation and finds support in their friendship in solid, dependable ways.
++
Out of great difficulties can bloom tiny wildflowers of hope. The hard situations in life can show the true strength of a person, and of a friendship. Sometimes, great loss is necessary before true love can emerge to be fully appreciated.

Summary
“Sherlock,” he says, but his voice is smothered by the waves. “Sherlock!” He shouts it this time, straining his ears for a reply. Nothing. Twice more he calls, his stomach clenching as each goes unanswered.

Summary
"Dear John,
Given enough time, everything falls into disorder: walls collapse, stone erodes, people grow old. (Entropy isn’t actually about chaos, but I’m making a compromise to maintain the poetic tone of this letter. It’s what you like.) The two of us are a closed system, we have been from day one, and it was inevitable for us to grow apart, to nurse disorder, to have to do the work of resisting chaos with a good measure of order.
Which we didn’t- and yet, here we are.
I, as well, wouldn’t have it any other way.
Always yours,
Sherlock"Bookmarked by itzmi

Summary
“His crashes are getting longer,” John states quietly.
Mycroft is silent. After a minute of quiet contemplation, he asks, “How long?”
“Latest one is going on about a month now. Longest one he’s had since I met him.”
There is a pause.
“He has bipolar disorder, doesn't he? The symptoms all are there, these aren't just bouts of crippling boredom, are they?"
