Summary
Tumblr Prompt: Humans were placed onto Earth due to it's natural ability to nullify magic. Immediately after leaving the gravity field, abilities start resurfacing. Upon learning that humanity is going to send people to Mars, galactic society becomes worried; humans were the most powerful sorcerers in the galaxy.
Of course, humans had forgotten this a long, long time ago. So long ago, in fact, that both the native and the humans had forgotten that they were actually two separate races, one from the Earth and one from the stars. They'd forgotten about the worshiping their ancestors had done when the humans arrived, about the portraits in their art and the stories about strange and wonderful things these people could do. Eventually, magic became a dream, only found in works of fiction, and widely believed to be unreal.
But I'm getting off track; this isn't a story about the past. It's a story about the future....

His feet were moving before he realised what he was doing. He walked out from behind Arthur’s throne and around the table to stand in front of the whole Court. His hands were shaking when he looked at his King. Arthur looked shocked, and while this gave him a bit of satisfaction, it didn’t help to lessen his nervousness at all.
“I’m Emrys,” he said loudly, trying to get himself under control.
“Stop trying to be funny, Merlin,” Arthur snorted. “Go back to your place,” he added.
“The Druids call me Emrys. It’s me you’re looking for,” he repeated stubbornly, but he knew that Arthur would need something more convincing than his words to believe him.
He stretched out his hand, wondering what to create to prove the truth of his words, but a ball of fire was enough for an expression of pure horror to appear on Arthur’s face.

Meanwhile, Merlin thinks the newest servant is a mess.

Summary
Post-canon AU / Canon AU from S2. It's been ten years since Arthur drifted away from him on the Lake of Avalon, but even inside Camelot's walls, Merlin is still lost. Hiding from those who know him and cut off from his former life in self-imposed exile, he can't resist the temptation when a mysterious stranger offers him the chance to set things right. Merlin returns to the past, to an innocent, simpler time, armed with the knowledge of Arthur's fate. He knows the odds (and the stubborn people - Arthur in particular) are stacked against him and the obstacles he must overcome seem insurmountable. Can destiny be nudged enough to save Arthur's life, and is the price too high?
