Why did this place always let in the lovesick ones? Why couldn't I run a guesthouse for normal, sensible people who paid in recognisable currency and didn't throw tantrums in my flowerbeds? Was that too much to ask for?

You don’t just up and marry someone you met not a half hour ago, even if he’s got an easy smile and kettle-bright hair and shoulders wider than the Rockies and- and brown eyes that crinkle at the corners, like he’s laughing a little. Oh help.
(What if Milly had learned the truth a little earlier?)

utterly hilarious, oh my god
the iambic pentameter throughout (varied with modern vernacular) is so well done. this needs to be freakin' staged; it works so well when read aloud.

Summary
Lan Zhan blinked, and pushed his wet hair off his forehead as he slid off his surfboard and stood upright. Wei Ying was standing on the beach, holding a pair of sandals and staring out, his sand-covered bare feet carefully out of reach of the actual water. There was a strange, mournful twist to his mouth that faded when he saw that he wasn’t alone, replaced by a warm smile. “Lan Zhan, is that you?”
“Mn,” he replied, and walked up to meet him there in the middle of the sand. Privately, he thought, who else would it be?
Wei Ying laughed. “I thought so, but I wasn’t sure. You looked good out there.”

*muffled screaming*
oh my god this is so good
this is so well done; it's beautifully written, there's so much deep amazing character work happening (so much, it's so good, i think that's my fave aspect), there's such a lovely muddle of relationships and i love the way it's episodically interleaf-structured. and the PINING
my god the pining feels like it unfolds as a natural consequence of character history, just murder me

Summary
He looked up, and a man stood before him. Geralt hadn't heard him approach. That was the first sign there was something odd.
The second was the faint but still noxious smell of poison that clung to his fingers, just strong enough to make out over the spiced perfume he wore. And under all of that was a richer smell, as familiar as Geralt's own scent, because it was Geralt's own. Or a witcher's, at least.
