Instead of a villain, a monster from their imaginations, the man that woke up was confused and had clear fear of the scars that he saw on Dave's face and body.. a man who had no memories of what he had done.

The Avengers never split up. The Statesman gets to Earth. Loki "reverts" to "villainy". SHIELD was re-set-up after the thing with HYDRA and provides compensation to civilians who get caught amidst hero/villain firefights.
One day Loki, Professional Supervillain, pays Jane that visit he once-upon-a-time said he would.
She gets paid money for any emotional distress such a meeting must have inflicted.
It's *good* money. And Jane is always in need of extra money for her research.

“You’re still not over me turning you into a baby emperor penguin last year, are you?” Loki questions, failing to suppress a snicker. Peter and Harley join in the snickering, as Morgan nods in enthusiastic approval. It had been her idea, after all.
Thor looks away surreptitiously, likely remembering his own time as perhaps the world's smallest baby polar bear.
“It wasn’t funny!” Tony exclaims, his cheeks blushing a soft pink that Loki is positive is only because of the cold weather, of course.
“Please, you were adorable,” Pepper retorts, a wide grin on her face. Her expression clearly promises that Tony is never going to live that one down.
“I second that statement,” adds Nebula, an amused smile even on her expression.Loki, of course, still has pictures and misses no chance of using them as blackmail.

He’s asked Ned and MJ a few times where the trip is to, but neither of them would budge, claiming the surprise would be so worth it. After Aunt May's death Peter was adopted by Tony and now legally goes by the name of Peter Parker-Stark. A few weeks after he moved into the tower the pardoned Rogues came back so everyone is once again living at the Stark/Avengers Tower.
