“Buying or selling?” Daisy asked, reaching for the pen and the registry for him to sign his name.
“Neither,” he said quickly. “It’s a—um—well. I’m looking for a wife?”
Darcy felt her eyebrows lift in surprise. If this man had trouble finding a wife, she thought with a laugh she kept to herself, there really was no hope for the rest of them.

Summary
Darcy liked vacations. The thing about vacations, is that she got to do things she didn't get to do normally. Things like touring ancient ruins, tasting new food, hooking up with the edgy, kind of dangerous looking guy she met on the ferry to Greece. Spending the last week of her vacation in a luxury villa that she could never have afforded, ever, with the same guy is really just icing on the cake.
The one thing that Darcy didn't count on was discovering well after the fact that their birth control measures had failed spectacularly.
She also didn't count on meeting Steve Rogers only a couple of months later.

Summary
Most people assume Darcy's pretty flighty. She suspects it's probably something to do with her porn star rack and the nine non-required electives she took in college. But she hasn't wavered once in her career path since she demanded her fifth birthday be super PAC-themed, excepting a brief period in seventh grade when a bad algorithm on a career test told her she should be in law enforcement.
The school counselor made everyone re-take the test a week later and Darcy was restored to her rightful place as a future secretary, but after that, the niggling suspicion that it would feel good to carry a gun always stuck around in the back of her mind.
