Ten thousand years. If Shen Wei stops to think about it from a human perspective, that amount of time is almost unfathomable. Their lives are so fleeting when viewed against millennia; there are so very many of them, rotating out their brief existences, that the odds of fate landing two specific beings at the same convergence of time and place are minute enough that every encounter can border on the miraculous.
To hope for that same miracle to repeat in his life after such a length is too much, and so Shen Wei chooses not to think about it, shutting away memories of a smile filled with sun, shutting away hope and a promise given, before they can be crushed against the cruel and relentless presence of time.
