Gaelin Lavallen is doing his best to fill his shoes as "The Herald of Andraste", trying to make things work. The Iron Bull finds his Dalish rogue is starting to get that funny look in his eye that everything is going tits up and is desperate for help. Too bad for both of them Gaelin is an idiot.

    Summary

The Bull is loud and coarse and he spends a lot of time at the Inquisition's diplomatic functions in a passive-aggressive snit. But it's hard to dislike someone who would—and does—throw himself directly between you and imminent danger at every opportunity.

Bull loses things, sometimes. He does not mean to, but then, nobody loses things on purpose. He mostly loses things in the fog of blood, and the pain and noise of combat.

“You know I'm not an ice mage, right? It truly would be a lot less effort on my part to just put a lightning bolt through your skull than it is to attempt to keep you alive.

“You underestimate yourself,” Bull states, not looking up from helping Lavellan sit up and drink the damn water that everyone seems to think is endless.

Dorian briefly weighs the pros and cons of mercy-killing the Inquisitor's paramour.

“Put down that canteen or I will put you down.”

The cons just barely win. And mostly just because he's sure Lavellan would toss him in the Fade if he dared.

    ---

Lavellan comes down with hyperthermia at the worst time possible. Bull attempts to take care of him. Lavellan attempts to take care of Bull. Dorian is the only one competent enough to take care of anyone.
