Summary
Mokita (Kivila Language): The truth everyone knows but agrees not to talk about.
There were soulmates in this world, soulmates with special abilities.
They were rare to find, but the connection could not be discounted. It was never a detriment, as she had believed. It was only thought of that way because the searing pain of never being allowed to give into the ability – the pain of knowing what could be for thirteen years but only bending ever-so-slightly.
It took ten years of burning silence, a return with a timid dance around one another with slight relief, and one complicated case resulting in two days and two nights in the woods.
This is the story of their reckoning…what they had known but refused to speak about. What they almost threw away. Of their rescue.

Summary
"This is a one-way street, Elliot. You have not asked me one question about what has happened to me since you left."
When Elliot asks for Olivia's help in proving that a Brighton Beach cleaning company is a front for human trafficking, he's unnerved by how viscerally she reacts to the victim's scars. He tries to parse out her past trauma, but he's unprepared for what he learns about William Lewis. And when Elliot realizes that everyone--including Olivia--believes that he knew about her abduction and chose not to reach out, he has to try to make amends, deal with his guilt, and convince her that he'll never leave again.
