Boris, Theo finds, is easy to compare to art when he's around, when he's not doing things like stealing famous paintings and replacing them with textbooks.

Or, Boris comes back again and again to fix things in more ways than one.

    Summary

Theo didn’t fly home right away; he stayed in Antwerp and together, he and Boris flew back to New York. They start over, two troubled teenagers all over again. They’ve replaced scorching Vegas summers with chilling New York winters. It was never about the place anyway.
They’re together-- they’re something-- but Theo still struggles to be open to strangers passing by.

(PLUS an extended part two/epilogue to give us more comforting boyfriends and less internalized homophobia for Theo!)

    Summary

He was holding me down, there was nowhere I could go—I suppose I very well could’ve tried, but I didn’t. I don’t know why I didn’t. An unknown force willed me to let whatever was going on continue, feeling my chest rise and fall as I caught my breath. I just looked up at every inch of his face over and over trying to memorise it because I had an awful feeling that one day I would have to let him go and days would exist where the world would not feel like it was inhabited only by the two of us.

I turned my head, feeling vulnerable under his eyes, which made me feel an awful pain in my chest because he was so beautiful here, under the starry sky, the snow protecting his hair, his mouth ajar, so kissable—I lowered my eyes, slowly enough to see his watch adorning his wrist, in silver, the second hand slowly advancing, as if the world had stopped, and that there was only me, only him. There has always been only him.

    Almost midnight.
