“I’ll be back,” she promises once Dani’s eyelids are heavy and dropping.
“Promise?”
And god. It’s in the same soft, hopeful voice as Dani has said before. Softness replaces the anxiety as she strokes Dani’s hair back again, the curls pushing against her fingers. This time she won’t tease. No, she’ll make this promise. She shouldn’t have left in the first place.

Summary
She wakes to a pounding ache. A hiss escapes as she squeezes her eyes shut, her body curling instinctively away from the source.
“THERE SHE IS!” Someone shrieks.
“Grab her, quick!”
She yelps as the grass beneath her morphs into thick angry vines, tangling up her legs and roughly binding her wrists together. Her eyes fly open, only to squeeze shut again when her temples throb viciously.
“H-Hey what-”
“I got her!”
Her voice cracks as she stammers but the vines just grip tighter. Panic rises in her throat she forces herself to look up, squinting. It’s chaos. Gun shots and powerful booms shake the landscape, people are running, while giant green tanks roll over a hill and away from a vast swathe of trees.
Before she can digest the scene any further a powerful force slams her back against the grass, a tight grip on her shoulder. Her ears flatten on instinct, and she meets a pair of cold blue eyes.
“You’ve lost, Catra. Your forces are retreating.”
She blinks up at her captor, confusion and fear mingling in her chest.
“Who-whos Catra?”

Catra loses her memory in Battle. Somewhat canon compliant but I'm gonna bend it around a bit to make the plot work. -

“But… but how did this even happen?” Catra stuttered, glancing down at her hands.
Glimmer and Bow exchanged a bemused look.
“Well, when two people love each other very much and decide they want a baby-" Glimmer started.
“-then the magic of Etheria binds their souls together and forms a child!” Bow finished.
Adora and Catra stared at them, blank faced.
“You’re kidding.” Catra said. -
