“We have something to tell you.”
Louis’ eyes slowly looked around the room. He frowned at the absence of anyone else.
“We? Who? You and the cat?” Louis scoffed.
Louis glanced at Niall, unimpressed. The black cat was looking at him quizzically.
“Right. Well, spit it out, Mum.”
“There’s no easy way to tell you this, so I’m just going to say it.” She took a deep breath. “You’re a witch.”
Louis is a teenage witch, living and attending university among mortals. He has to keep his secret whilst studying on both his degree and his witch's licence. His friends don't suspect a thing, even as spell after spell goes awry.

“Is your passport definitely in your bag?”
“It’s definitely there,” Harry huffed. “I’m not stupid.”
“I never said you were, love. I’m just asking from experience.”
“It happened once.”
Louis pressed his lips together and wheeled his suitcase towards the front door.
“And… you really aren’t wearing a plug? You swear?”
Harry finally cracked a smile. “I swear.”
Harry and Louis go on their first big holiday, and they have a few surprises for each other along the way.

“So, you moved in today?”
“Yeah.” Louis huffed. “I’ve had to leave all my friends behind in Donny and move here because my mum got a good job. And this house is bigger than the one we were in, so that’s good. But I just… I was popular, I had loads of friends, I was captain of the football team. I don’t think the school I’m going to even has a football team.”
“What school are you going to?”
“That’s my school!” Harry stopped, and the ball hit his foot. “I’ll be your friend.”
Louis smiled, and something about it made Harry’s stomach twist uneasily.
“That’s sweet, Harry. But I can’t exactly hang out with an eleven year old.”
Harry’s mouth twisted into a frown, but he kicked the ball back anyway. “Okay.”
“We can hang out here, though.”
Louis, 13, moves in next door to Harry, eleven. They immediately hit it off and quickly become best friends, but as they get older, things get a little complicated.
“You did look a bit bored, following Liam and your mate around. Almost like…” Harry smirked to himself. “The third wheel.”
The man looked at him in disbelief before scoffing out a laugh.
“Oh, God. No. That was terrible.”
“I have to get myself through the day somehow.” Harry shrugged. “I have no interest in any of this, either.”
“Oh.” The man stood up. “Why do you work here?”
“Fair.” The man grinned. “I have to tell you, I couldn’t stop laughing when we pulled into the car park. What kind of name is RimTyme, anyway?”
Harry groaned. “Oh, I know. My first week here, I couldn’t take anything seriously. I nearly got myself fired.”
The man laughed, a raspy, lilting sound that made Harry grin.
Harry is chronically bored at work, until a cheeky lad with a penchant for sexual symbolism strolls in.
“Well,” Harry began. “I thought it was about time.”
Louis lowered himself to sit on the bed. “Time?”
“Yes.” Harry shifted his weight awkwardly. “I shall inform my advisor that I intend to propose to you, and that we need to make the necessary preparations for the revelation of my sexuality. My coming out.”
“I see.” Louis leaned back and propped himself up on his elbows. “Telling me that you need to inform your legal advisor before you propose to me isn’t exactly a big, romantic gesture.”
Harry smirked. “I’m sure you knew when you got with me that these things wouldn’t exactly be… usual.”
Harry is now King, and Louis has been living with him for a year. They are ready for the next step, and all Louis has to do is wait for Harry to ask the question.
