Adam goes to the hospital in an ambulance that arrives in the trailer park shockingly quickly, so quickly that Ronan doesn’t have time to talk to him at all before he’s gone. He follows in the BMW. His head hurts badly, but probably not as badly as Adam’s does. When he loses sight of the blue lights, he calls Gansey.

Summary
Ronan flashes his lights twice when he sees Adam’s wiry form emerge from the doors of the factory. He watches from across the parking lot as Adam squints at the car and starts to make his way over; he likes watching Adam move, even when it is in this slow, sluggish way, evidence that the first of his two shifts at the factory tonight has already taken its toll. Ronan doesn’t honestly even know what Adam does in the factory, only that he comes away exhausted and tense and usually mad about something he doesn’t want to talk about.

Sometimes he might even go as far as to say that he loves his job; he enjoys the work, his little office with the big window, the way the building smells like books, and the fact he can turn his email notifications off on a Friday night and know nothing world-ending will have happened by Monday. Compared to his short stint in law, publishing was a breeze.

Summary
“You read The Aeneid in Latin?” Adam tried desperately not to be jealous of Ronan, because really, that would be too much. He could be jealous of Gansey’s kingly presence and Declan’s beautiful suits and his classmates' expensive holidays, but he would not be petulant about Ronan being able to read an old book in a language nobody spoke anymore.
That was a lie, and Adam knew it, but there was also a small, warm part of him that was delighted by the image of Ronan reading in Latin. He imagined Ronan’s lips mouthing the words silently as he unpicked page-long sentences, tracing each line with his fingertip so he wouldn’t lose his place.
“Do you, like, have it memorized?” Adam’s voice was gleeful.
“Oh, shut the fuck up, Parrish.” Ronan rolled over so he was facing away from Adam.

Two evenings a week, Adam whiled away his lonesome hours at a mechanic shop specializing in foreign cars. He spent a few hours on easy freelance computer projects handed out by approving professors and professional contacts. Every other hour of the week was dedicated to classes, seminars, and school work, a schedule carefully carried out by hands that were used to maneuvering each grain of time in the hourglass with tweezers.
But, as uncomplicatedly as possible, the weekends were for Ronan.
