Summary
TK has a rough shift and comes home to Carlos in the kitchen.
“Carlos collects up the last of the chopped carrots and drops them into a bowl, then pulls over the cabbage and begins to methodically cut it into wedges. TK slides his hand under Carlos’ shirt to rest on his stomach, and feels the muscles there immediately tense up as Carlos laughs.
'Is there something I can do for you, TK? Because I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but I’m kind of busy,' he says, his tone perfectly balanced between affection and exasperation."

Summary
Five times TK ran, and the first time he stayed.
"Carlos can hardly look away, and when he does, it’s like he’s flash blind—everyone else a hazy shadow next to TK’s shine. He’s all quicksilver smiles and clear green eyes and slim shoulders that would fit just right into the curve of Carlos’ arms. For Carlos, who lives most of his life at parade rest, watchful and controlled, it’s a strange but not unwelcome feeling to be so immediately and completely captivated."

Summary
Darcy is at the kitchen sink when Nick comes in the door, elbow deep in soapy water and frantically washing what looks like half the dishes and cutlery in the apartment. Nick toes off his shoes and laughs, because when it comes to Darcy’s dish-hoarding habit he has discovered that life is easier if he chooses to find it entertaining rather than annoying.
“So I see Tara is coming over,” he says, shrugging off his coat and hanging it over the back of a chair. “What kind of a timeline are we looking at here, and more importantly, have you dealt with the floordrobe situation?” -

The thing is, historically speaking, Patrick hasn’t been the best judge of his own happiness. If Aidan has a few reservations, he thinks that’s understandable.

Enzo emerges into the arrivals hall looking frazzled by the logistics of traveling with a one-year old. But when he sees them he breaks into a smile, pops the break on the stroller, and drops his bags so he can pull TK into a hug. Over the dull hum of the airport Carlos hears him say, "Hey kid, it's really good to see you." And Carlos can see how tightly they're holding on to each other.

Summary
The store is busy, and TK mills around, looking at things he can’t quite afford until the clerk behind the counter has a free moment.
“What can I get for you, sir?” The clerk asks, and TK drums his fingers against the counter.
“I’m looking for work.”
The clerk snorts and steps away. “Everyone is lookin’ for work, kid.”
TK follows him down the counter, dodging a customer who’s asking for a pound of flour and two yards of burlap.
“I'm desperate,” TK tells him, and the clerk snorts again.
“Everyone is desperate.”
“My father is sick, my mother passed, and I have a baby brother—.”
“Kid,” the clerk says, a spoonful of flour paused above the sack of flour, “everyone’s father is sick. Everyone’s mama just passed. And everyone has a baby brother. Or a son or daughter—someone back home waiting on them to send them money. You’re not special.”
--
TK leaves home in search of work. In 1915, he finds himself on a ranch outside of Austin, Texas, working for a family that will change his life forever.

Summary
There is a big difference between a trans man exploring his identity/sexuality through fanfiction, and a cis writer repeatedly misrepresenting what it means to be FTM. If you're a cis writer with the best of intentions, I hope these guidelines and resources will assist you in improving your treatment of trans men.
Chapter 1: Writing Guide, FTM Anatomy.
Chapter 2: Gallery of Trans Men.
Chapter 3: FTM Media Recommendations.
Chapter 4: Racism in Trans Headcanons. This guide was originally posted on my old account, which has since been deleted due to transphobic comments, including threats of violence. I have posted it again anyway, because I take this matter very seriously. Please do not repost, plagiarise, or copy this guide. But please feel free to share a link to it, so that cis authors can improve the way that they depict trans men.
I have tagged fandoms and characters which are discussed in the guide, and are therefore relevant. If you encounter this guide while browsing those tags, that's why.Series
