And it wasn’t until that moment that it dawned on Fatin.

That her autobiography, for it to truly be her heart and soul in written form, would be a living, breathing declaration of love for one Leah Rilke.

A declaration that was about to go fucking public.

    Or,

Prompt: It's natural to assume that after the island Leah would write a book about it... but what if Fatin was the one to actually do it. She writes all the unsaid feelings and that's how Leah finally understands that Fatin loves her

The one good thing Fatin can say about this island? Her cello calluses are starting to fade. Everything else? Shit. Shit. Absolute shit. Day one, their plane crashes. They wash up on a deserted island. A girl dies. Fully fucking, like, kicks the bucket, right in front of them. And, incredibly, things only go downhill from there.

And the worst thing of all is that as Leah slips deeper and deeper into the depths of her obsession, all Fatin can do is watch. It breaks her heart. And it makes her angry. And it makes her frustrated. But most of all, it makes her sad. She doesn't know how to pull Leah out of it -- or if that's even possible. Or if she's just going to have to watch her best friend lose herself completely to the darkness.

// OR: all the season 2 crumbs (and meals and feasts) we know and love, plus all the extra scenes we deserved but didn't get, plus a greatest hits reel of season one, plus me taking a lot of artistic license with some of the s2 dialogue, plus maybe I'll take a stab at s3 and/or a post-experiment epilogue ;)

    “Re-start the count.”

“You sure?” Fatin checked, watching her like this was a fundamentally important question. Like it was a confession.

Leah shifted to look out the window of the cabin, peering into the dark, impenetrable forest that surrounded them, the fire in the hearth the only light source for what must have been hundreds of miles.

A single beacon in an abyss.

    “I’m sure. Re-start the count.”

    Summary

It's been ten years since the island, ten years since they won their lawsuit against Gretchen Klein, and the girls have decided to celebrate by spending a week in a beautiful, isolated cabin in the mountains, far away from the press, just the eight of them. But things between Fatin and Leah are fraught: they haven't seen each other in years, after a falling-out that left them at odds.

When the Unsinkable Eight find themselves snowed in for days during a terrible winter storm, Fatin and Leah are forced to reckon with what happened in the years post-island, and to come to terms with their unresolved feelings for each other.
