    Summary

Perhaps it was unfair to Shen Wei. He’d never really been the kind of guy who tried to push his own feelings onto others, didn’t really see the need to, never really had them and hadn’t been in this position before.

“Is that it?” Zhao Yunlan asked. “You thank me for showing you the most basic degree of courtesy and we go on as we have?”

Leaning against the sink, Shen Wei bowed his head. “I don’t think Xiao Guo would have held my hand like that.”

    Bookmarker's Notes

“It would be nice to hold onto you without some Dixing superpower forcing the issue,” Zhao Yunlan said, pushing the boundaries and knowing it.

The other him tensed, eyes narrowed. “Hologram, clone, robot doppelganger, evil twin, or face-stealing Dixingren?”

“Time traveller. The Hallows brought me from the future to set things right, and I haven’t eaten in days, so you should give me that.” He pointed at the bowl of noodles. “You’ll thank yourself later.”

    Summary

One of his braids had come undone and was falling across his face. He batted at it, resigned. He was untidy and disheveled, which was just so wrong for Shen Wei that Zhao Yunlan couldn’t help himself.

“Let me,” he said, and reached out to tuck the strands back.

Zhao Yunlan gets to take care of Shen Wei, and gets a little more back than he was expecting.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Shen Wei now just snorted in amusement and worked the next strand free, and curled his fingers down to Zhao Yunlan’s scalp and drew the strand slowly through his fingers. Zhao Yunlan shivered at the sensation. Shen Wei made a small sound and worked out the next one, and the next, and the next, and Zhao Yunlan lost track of what he was doing, lost in the feel of Shen Wei’s hands stroking through his hair. The gentle trail blended with the slow working of the comb along the mass of it, until he felt weightless and undone, as if Shen Wei’s hands were running right through his skin to his heart. Nothing tentative or doubtful in that touch, it was Shen Wei taking time to delight in it, deliberately. Zhao Yunlan let himself fall into the sensations; the drag of the comb, the light press of Shen Wei’s knee against his hip, the strong fingers working him back into neatness.

It took a long time to thread the beads back onto the ties, to wrap the ties around the topknot. Shen Wei’s breathing had sped up a little and his hands moved slower and slower.

Shen Wei’s hands smoothed down his back, lingered, and then fell still, resting on Zhao Yunlan’s hips. Zhao Yunlan caught his breath, unwilling to move, letting Shen Wei make his decision.
