Finnick isn't sure which persona to use as he stares at her... Snow doesn't control which card he gets to pick now. He doesn't have to be an unbothered, arrogant Victor. He doesn't have to be a flirty heartthrob. He can pick how he reacts to this. Maybe he can pull it together, pull it together for her almost lifeless form. But Finnick draws a different card from his deck, a card that he only drew during the nights back home in 4 when he was safe in his own bed. Actually, he's been drawing it a lot more often. The odds must be in his favor because for the last two months, he's been picking the exact same emotional, completely wrecked, mentally strained card from his deck of personas. And today, as he watches the group of nurses rip Annie's blanket off of her naked, bruised, burned, scabbed, bloody, skeletal body, he picks the same card.
or: Annie returns to District 13 unconscious.

"Only a few of the Victors knew from the very beginning that he was gone for his tribute. They're lucky that they got to see their love bloom firsthand. But maybe 'lucky' isn't the right word."
or: The Victors that noticed that Finnick loved Annie from the beginning. Some even noticed before he did.

Finnick watched in horror as her eyes registered the amount of blood she was swimming in and let out a scream that rivaled the boom of the boy's canon.
Claudius Templesmith's voice boomed through the arena and through the screen.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to present the victor of the seventieth Hunger Games, Annie Cresta! I give you the tribute of District 4!"
or: Finnick's perspective of Annie winning her games + a little moment afterward
