  3. Summary

Things change, shift, and grow. Bonds are formed, strengthened, severed, then formed again. After a century of living together, the crew of the Starblaster are closer than they ever could have imagined--some among them moreso than others. And even if they forget, even if they hurt, they can always rebuild.

(aka how the crew of the Starblaster came to be a family, how Lup and Lucretia and Barry fell in love, and how they work to set things right after the Day of Story and Song)

    Summary

The revolution failed. Markus is dead. Connor accomplished his mission.

Facing obsolescence and deactivation, Connor deviates in a world he made impossible for deviants to survive in. Fear and uncertainty grip him for the first time. He goes to the only person he thinks might help him, the only person he wants to see (and isn't wanting a strange new emotion?): Hank. Hank, who's furious with him. Hank, who he left on top of that frozen rooftop overlooking Hart Plaza.

Hank, who, despite his anger, still agrees to help Connor get to Canada and his one chance at safety.

    Bookmarker's Notes

this story is utterly gorgeous and the writing and atmosphere and details equally so. connor is wonderfully inhuman but still alive in this, and the way he and hank find each other through all that and everything is beautiful.

    Summary

Hank is going to die. He’s going to die right here in Kentucky, 53 years old, halfway to broke, and tragically sober. Survived only by a nine-year-old St. Bernard and the 31-year-old twink who delivered the fatal blow.

there are things that are Important to read--the classics, you know, the stuff that had an influence on authors and generations to come, stuff chock-full with Meaning and Rhetorical Devices and Symbolism and Other Such Things. and this is i think all of that too, though i can't predict the future, but it's also important, because it is beautiful and warm and healing in a way that i cannot fully describe. i don't know why you wouldn't have read it if you're into dbh, but if you haven't, read it.

this is seriously has some of the best imagery of anything i've read ever. it's got great atmosphere, almost painfully so. do keep the warnings in mind, but it's such an interesting story and i really recommend it.

    Summary

"So, what? Cyberlife gave you a preference for ugly, old, washed-up bastards?"

Connor intentionally allows himself to appear unamused. "Absolutely not." He waits for Hank to look at him again before delivering his punchline. "I believe I developed that for myself."

    Bookmarker's Notes

i absolutely adore this depiction of connor struggling with his programming and fitting that into his new life post-deviancy (hell, it inspired the early chapters of my fic to a degree), and it's all so thoughtfully written and worked through in such a wonderful and realistic way! connor's and hank's relationship is so good here too, tentative and snarky and yet incredibly, incredibly sweet, and i loved every minute of reading it! (this entire series is great, really.)

    Summary

Hank has stopped thinking about his place in the world for a long time. Old, washed-up cops don’t live exciting lives. He just does what he always does: cracks cases, drinks whiskey, and goes home to Sumo.

But then the android sent by CyberLife shows up – disarmingly curious, intentionally uprooting all the familiar aspects of Hank’s life, and he jumps headfirst into an android revolution. Barrels into cases like an unstoppable storm.

Halfway through, Hank realizes he’s no longer at the sidelines of his life.

And that Connor makes it better. All of it.

[Or alternatively: an episodic glimpse into the life of Hank Anderson and his partner Connor. Takes place after the revolution, happy ending included.]

    Bookmarker's Notes

gosh i don't even have the words really for how beautiful this is. excellent casefic sections, wonderful relationship development, utterly fantastic characterization, amazing atmosphere. i won't write too much here because i don't think i can properly do it justice in the first place, but if you're in the fandom and enjoy the pairing (and mind the cws and are not a minor of course), you should absolutely read this because it's so very, very special!
