She tilts her head, as if Yoshiko’s mind is a maths problem she’s struggling to figure out. “If it isn’t fun and doesn’t make you happy, then why do you do it?”
Yoshiko mulls over her answer for a moment. She isn't sure of it herself; catching the train to school and then coming back from it -- it’s become such a repeated action that it's practically muscle memory at this point. “It’s kind of silly, isn’t it?” she says finally. “I’ve been wanting to become a violinist ever since I can remember. I’ve already come this far -- I’m in music school. I can’t just…” She trails off.
“Give up?” Ruby guesses and her eyes narrow in worry.
Yoshiko sighs and takes another sip from her mug. Her legs idly kick back and forth under the table. “Yeah.”
