The text keeps flashing over and over in Lan Zhan's head like the bulb lights on a marquee. They’d been talking about homework directly before that, swapping notes on music theory in the baroque period. Then, like a fork of lightning out of a clear blue sky: wanna practice kissing? 😚

Wei Ying suggests an arrangement. Lan Zhan, in love, deals.

Having nothing else to offer her goddess but her body and devotion, Hua Cheng had begun to design dresses for Xie Lian, sewing away like she was a palace seamstress. Xie Lian thought her creations far exceeded the skill of any human. She could even rival the goddesses of the Heavenly Court! Eight-hundred years was a long time for her to practice after all.

She’d woven each stitch like she’d been threading together red strings of fate, making the distance between her and Xie Lian smaller and smaller.

    Summary

Xie Lian glanced around, searching for a space amid the crowded bus. The seats had already been taken up, forcing her to wriggle between standing passengers. When she saw Hua Cheng, her gaze lingered for a second before a smile graced her lips. She shuffled closer until she was standing in front of Hua Cheng and holding onto the steel pole as the bus began to move.

Hua Cheng tried not to fidget as she scrambled to say something. She hoped the smile she had on wasn’t hysterical or awkward.

    “Hi, Jiejie,” she finally said.

Xie Lian’s smile grew. “Hi.” She started to mess with a lock of her hair with her free hand. “I… I feel like I see you on this bus a lot. Going home?”
