“Sneak out,” Wei Wuxian corrected.
“Whatever,” Nie Huaisang said, waving his hand dismissively. “And no one is supposed to notice?”
“Obviously not.”
“And how is that supposed to work?” Asked Nie Huaisang amused.
Wei Wuxian frowned. “That’s why I asked you for help. Can’t you do it?”
Nie Huaisang huffed. “Of course I can! Nothing easier than that. What I meant was, how do you want to keep people from noticing you are gone? There will be dozens of people arriving daily to meet you.”Or: Emperor Wei Wuxian is sick of being stuck in the Forbidden City and wants to have a day off to wander the streets of the capital in disguise. When he meets A-yuan and Lan Wangji, he is delighted to not be treated like the Emperor for a change.

Summary
This was never intended to be a series or even to be a fic worthy of AO3. It started out as a little twitter thread ...
Part 1 is a oneshot I originally wrote on twitter and was later edited and posted on AO3 due to receiving some attention.
Part 2 will be a longer fic that takes off where part 1 ended but then takes a sharp turn into self-indulgent canon-divergence.
