Summary
Nicky is completely head over heels in love with Joe, but when he waits too long to tell him, Joe finds himself someone new and Nicky has to contend with the heartbreak of Joe moving on and with Booker, no less.
(Or so he thinks, but maybe the evidence Nicky has isn’t pointing to the right conclusion)

Summary
Nico blinks. “I cannot help what I am. I won’t apologize.”
“Of course not,” Jo corrects, angry on his behalf. “None of this is your fault. None of it is mine, either. We’re disposable, you and I. To these people. But not to one another.”
.
Rome, First Century BC. Jovilius "Jo", famed gladiator, is a force to be reckoned with in the arena. Nicknamed Invictus for his prowess and constitution, he is able to catch the eye of the Emperor with ease. For his successive victories he is rewarded a night with the Emperor's concubinus - the kindhearted yet sharp-tongued Nico - and the two men discover they have much more in common then they seem to realize.
But Jo is only a mere couple of wins away from affording total freedom. And the more time he spends with Nico, the less he can picture a future without him.

Summary
Nicolò should set up the rifle right now, make the shot, and be out of the country by lunchtime. He shouldn’t care that Joe’s eyes are a warm, deep brown, or that when he smiles the entire room lights up around him. Nico has killed beautiful people before, many of them, without blinking.
Instead he makes a monumentally stupid decision.
"My bad pickup line worked on you,” Joe says later at dinner. “I saw your sneer and I thought, oh, I must get that man to agree to a date with me.”
Nico snorts. “And despite my better judgement, here we are.”
“Oh,” Joe says, and over to touch Nico’s fingers. “I think your judgement was quite good, don’t you?”
Or: Nico has a job, and that job is Joe. He just can't for the life of him figure out why anyone would want an unassuming museum curator and art restorer dead.

Summary
Finally, nearing the bottom of the notifications, Joe spots a new commenter. He gets a handful of new followers most days, but they usually either lurk or have been commenting for ages already. This guy isn’t a new follower, and Joe hasn’t seen him comment before. A quick glance at his profile shows that he is following Joe, and has been for a while - he likes almost everything Joe posts. He’s never said anything before, though.
This guy, @dj_nova, has commented, Excuse me, is that a quote from Inferno? below Joe’s deadlift video.
“Yes!” Joe cries out, sitting up in bed.
OR: The one where Instagram fitness and lifestyle thirst trap Joe Al-Kaysani has a problem in that he becomes incredibly tongue-tied around a very cute barista at his favorite café even though he really wants to discuss medieval poetry with him.

Summary
“You need to chill out. Who in their right mind wouldn’t want to make out with you?”
Hovering near the edge of the snack table and clutching a bottle of water to his chest as if it’s a lifeline, Nicky imagines that he can hear Nile’s parting words when she dropped him off at the green room, bouncing in echo around his head.
He can practically see her smirking, that knowing look in her eyes that says she knows perfectly well that Nicky isn’t afraid of not making out with somebody - only of what happens once he does.
~
Nile is an intern at Buzzfeed who suckers her roommate Nicky into a shoot where he has to - scratch that, gets to - make out with a certain stranger named Joe.
