Summary
Calliope's hand ghosts over the column of Juliette’s throat, her fingers closing around it: softly at first, then hard enough to bruise. Juliette shivers, doesn’t fight it. Calliope is so warm and so alive and Juliette wants more, wants her so much it feels like burning.
“I’ve dreamed of this,” Calliope says, low and sultry, lips pressed to the corner of Juliette’s mouth.
Juliette’s breath hitches. “Killing me?”
“Kissing you.”

Summary
Deep down, Leah knows that she and Fatin can't win the Games again together in the quarter quell. Their 'romance' already changed history and broke more societal rules than Klein and the gamemakers ever wanted. They were back to be killed for good this time so that the whispers of a rebellion would be silenced.
It doesn't matter that she understands that she, Fatin, and the other allies can't all survive; she can't help getting closer to them. Slowly, they all start to worm their way into her heart. And even if she and Fatin are still acting like they're in love so that the Capitol continued to love them, she starts to question what's real and what's pretend between them.
She just doesn't want anyone else to die. But the odds have never felt like they have ever been in her fucking favor.

Summary
“You do know who I am, right?” Fatin asked, but her smile was uneven, almost hesitant if Leah didn’t know any better.
Leah wiped her wet hands on her jeans. “I spent the last nine hours on set with you. So, yeah, I do.”
“You just don’t seem particularly dazzled.”
“Maybe you’re not as dazzling as you think.”
Fatin screwed her eyebrows into an incredulous frown. “Are you kidding? This is my second all nighter this week, I’m glowing like a fucking burlesque dancer right now. The less sleep I get, the more I dazzle.”
Leah’s eye trailed over Fatin’s angular face and damp, wavy hair, her arms draped over the steering wheel, her dark skin clear and radiant even under the orange street lamp glow, and yeah, sleep deprivation shouldn’t look so good on anyone.
So Leah shrugged. “I did say maybe.”
