With what feels like aching deliberateness but could just be his mind moving in slow motion, Kate gingerly scoops up the fallen cream with one long, delicate finger and slips it between her lips. And she goddamn looks at him.
Not briefly. Not in embarrassment. Direct eye contact while she sucks the clotted cream off her finger, her gorgeous full lips pursed, just a hint of her tongue visible as she draws it back out of her mouth with a pop.
And then she looks away, responding to Edwina’s question about something Anthony could not recall at gunpoint, and he feels halfway to fainting.
