"Yet here you are, the first to set foot in this old temple after it's long and lonely years without hearing a single prayer." The voice ended with a smile, prompting Childe to finally open his eyes just to caught a glimpse of it.
"I didn't pray for anything."
Zhongli lowered his head to better look at him, his face was as neutral as ever but Childe noticed the underlying worry in those amber eyes. "You wished for a peaceful stay while you recuperate—"
"I only wanted to say thanks for the shelter, nothing more," he insisted.
"You are welcomed to stay for as long as you like." The smile Zhongli gave him was warm and his heart clenched at the sight.

Zhongli catches a flash of orange hair emerging from the truck then, descending the ramp in haughty steps. Lifeless blue eyes meet his and arch into crescents. Childe throws a lazy wave before sauntering up to his side, hands tucked into the pockets of his inappropriately tight jeans.
The two of them have become supernaturally synced to the most minute of each other’s mannerisms. Childe easily catches the deception in his otherwise angelic smile, and his own smirk widens in turn.
“We work well together,” is the only explanation he gives Ningguang.

That’s got to be the weirdest looking dog Ajax has ever seen in his life.
At least, Ajax thinks it’s a dog. It’s got scraggly little ginger tufts of fur around the neck and a strip of wild fur running down the spine like a mohawk, ending in more bushy, fluffy fur bits sprouted at the end of the tail. There are also some sort of strange protrusions from its head, like antlers, or maybe tumours? Fuck if Ajax knows, he’s not a medical professional.
But even with his lack of medical knowledge, he knows the dog-thing is in bad shape; it’s so covered in dirt and blood that Ajax can’t even tell what colour it is beneath all that grime.
