    Summary

Techno whirls around. Under the tree sits a creature clad in green robes; three-headed and triple-winged. A thick halo of silver hangs above it, and a mask with deep engravings shields its face.

“Where am I?” Techno asks it. He feels disoriented, dizzy from the fresh air.

"Limbo," the creature says. "It’s a kind of afterlife. I made it for you."

    “It’s a void,” Techno says. “It’s uncreative.”

"I created it to eternally torment you," the creature clarifies.

Techno looks around him and sees sunny clean air as far as he can see. He tilts his head and says nothing.

"The famed blood god himself," the creature hums, "destined to an eternity of empty void and peaceful field, all on his lonesome. Ironic, isn’t it? I thought it rather clever."

Ironic enough, Techno thinks. He holds his silence.

    __

[Or: Technoblade dies. His limbo is an empty island in the midst of a void, meant as an unpeaceful rest for an unpeaceful soul. He finds himself happy there, despite everything.]

    Summary

“If we’re the only two who own the game, how the fuck are we on a multiplayer server right now,” Techno says slowly.

“Rumor has it this is all an elaborate marketing stunt,” Phil says dully. “Or that I’m actually trapped inside this game Jumanji style and can never leave.”

Techno’s so caught off guard by that that he actually barks out a laugh - a loud, uncomfortable chuckle. “Yeah, right.”

“It’s true,” Phil continues. His character looks up and meets Techno’s in the eyes. “I am stuck in this game. I’ve been trying to get out for decades. It’s utterly soul-crushing and I’ve given up all hope for a way out.”

“Bruh,” Techno says, because he doesn’t know what else to say.

    ___

[Or: Phil's chat has a running joke that the reason he only streams Minecraft is that he's trapped in the game like a Jumanji character. They're right, even if they don't know it.]

    Summary

“Iron Man,” Loki stated—questioned, more like, by the tone—turning around to face him, although his gaze was oddly a few degrees off of Tony, his hands raised in a defensive gesture. “Anthony Stark,” he stated, and this time Tony noticed that his voice sounded suspiciously more like a dry rasp, as if he hadn’t used it in months.

Except for screaming, probably, that is, the part of his brain still recovering from The Cave supplied merrily.

“In the flesh,” Tony replied, trying to keep himself unfazed. The whole starved look was probably an illusion anyway, he told himself.

Tony was pretty sure he heard Loki mutter a resigned “So this is how I die, then,” to himself.

All right, this was giving off some solid horrible vibes, and not in the A Feral Demigod of Evil and Trickery is Going To Kill Me sense, either.

Or: A broken "hero", a shattered "villain", and the pain, hope and parallels in between.

Written for Whumptober 2020 prompts No. 7 (I've Got You | Enemy to Caretaker) and No. 26 (If You Thought the Head Trauma Was Bad... | Blindness).
