Summary
Prince Zuko was told that the Avatar was the only thing capable of ending his banishment, and so, he sailed the world trying to find the Master of All Elements. Until the day he sailed too far into Northern Water Tribe territory, and was captured - was the only survivor. For three years, he has lived in the North, with only Princess Yue and Master Pakku for company - until the day the Avatar arrived.
His new destiny is clear: wait until the Avatar has mastered Water and Earth bending, and then teach him as much Fire bending as possible. -

It takes him a while to understand what happened.
He died, he remembers one night, waking up screaming from a nightmare that shakes him to the bones because it’s not just a nightmare, it’s a memory, and he remembers running ahead of his team, seeing, too late, the wire as he trips it, and then fire, sound and pain, so much pain, and it hurts and it hurts so much and then…
