Summary
One year after the Civil War, Bucky Barnes is pardoned, thanks in large part to Tony Stark, and given a chance to return in order to remove the triggers in his head, courtesy of the upgraded BARF tech. Bucky is ready to heal and make amends, but can he atone for all the damage done?
The path forward seems daunting and there are challenges ahead, but may be both he and Tony can find hope in the most unexpected place - each other.

Summary
As vital organs go, the heart is a pretty vital one. Right up there with lungs.
Ever since Tony was born he could hear his heart. But, not just hear it. No, Tony could feel his heart. Sometimes it was soft and quiet. While other times it was wild and screaming. But it was always there. A constant rhythm in Tony's chest. One that kept drumming no matter what. No matter who tried to stop it, it kept going.
Sure, it might have slowed down a few times, but it kept on going. The most vital organ, silently, or as silent as it gets, marching on, to the beat of life.

Ever since birth Tony Stark has been able to feel his pulse. No matter what, it's always there, a constant rhythm that is always heard. It is a feeling, one that shakes his body over and over again. And it is one of the only things he can truly hold on to, a thing that is not up for debate. Not available for stealing.
However, that will not stop people from trying.
So, Tony learns how to protect his pulse. To never let other near it. To guard it with is life, because, essentially, it is his life. His safeguard. His constant. He protects it, and lets it become a part of his life.
