She wants to disappear. To slowly dissolve into the cold night air and swirl and twirl in the breeze with the snowflakes she adores. She would be happy, she thinks. To be in the frigid temps- becoming one with the only thing that puts her mind at ease. Maybe, just maybe, she wouldn’t feel as she did. Perhaps she would feel as if she had a place in the world, a purpose. The wind brings forth the rain and pollen from flowers. It sends scents of food and danger to those with their noses upturned and waiting. It could even bring life and, in some cases, death. She wouldn’t require anything, no wants or desires. She would just float amongst the leaves and snowflakes.

They got the house “for an absolute steal” the realtor had told them. The house had been abandoned for decades, the previous owner had been long gone, paying for a house they no longer lived in until he had eventually passed before the new decade had started. Despite still feeling the city life thriving through her veins, the house called to Kara, it needed work yes, a lot of it, but she had never felt a call like this before, to make the house her own.
