"Faramir would see things often, in the edges of rooms where he dared not look. He would hear sounds, like the grinding of steel and bone, the hitch of breath and drip of wet. It happened first in the days since he had been released from the healing house, when he was tired, when the work piled up in seemingly endless stacks on his desk and the nights stretched on till morning. Nights when candles burned low and dribbled wax across his desk. But now, weeks since his release, it happened more often, when darkness filled his heart like a cool blanket and he felt himself preoccupied with things that existed no longer."

Summary
AU of movieverse. It is many years since tragedy struck the line of Durin when the youngest heir was lost to a pack of orcs. Now Bilbo Baggins, having agreed only to stealing treasure from a dragon, finds himself instead tangled up in a web of tragedy and revenge. Perhaps it's foolhardy of him to get involved at all, but really, someone has to try and keep these dwarves out of trouble. As for the rest, well, what is lost does not always stay lost forever.

This is in response to a Sherlock Holmes kinkmeme prompt on LJ: "Ok, so I've read some really nice fills for Watson being raped and Holmes finding out (and taking care of him). But I'd really like it the other way round: Holmes being the victim of rape with Watson finding out and (as usual) having to deal with the aftermath. I want Holmes to be severely traumatized, confused, emotionally shattered and not at all his usual self; you know what I mean."
EXPLICIT non-con, violence, NC-17. May be triggering. There is plot involved yes, that's also a warning.

As evidence mounts against the detective, Watson desperately searches. Can he find Holmes first? Can he solve this case before Scotland Yard arrests the world's only consulting detective? Whoever takes action, they must do it quickly. The evidence is drowning!
