    During their first winter on Midgard, Thor drags Loki into a nearby town to, following Bruce's suggestion, see how the Midgardians decorate for the holidays. 

    Loki is less than thrilled by the development (and by the idea of celebrating a Midgardian holiday, in the first place), and things reach a breaking point when he finds himself in an unfamiliar place, surrounded by strangers. 

    All but one, that is.

    There was an arrow sticking out of Link’s back.

    Zelda had watched in stunned silence as Link hobbled back to the cave he’d all but thrown her into for safety. Naturally he’d dealt with the ambush in minutes, wiping out an entire tribe of bokoblins while barely breaking a sweat. Or at least, that was how it had seemed before he slumped down in the mouth of the cave with her.

    When Link takes an arrow to the back, he has to rely on Zelda's help to fix him up. This leads to some revelations for Zelda which might be the very spark she needs. Not that she'd tell Link that though.

    That unease heightened to a crescendo when Link saw the princess’s hand reach out towards the unassuming cup between them. Panic flared up inside him. Without thinking, Link’s own hand shot out, snatching the cup away from her.

     


    Whilst dining with the Sheikah, Link drinks a poison intended for Zelda, who can only watch as her appointed knight is burned from the inside out.
