Summary
Loki dies on Svartalfheim. Then he wakes up. It does not take long before Hela seizes the opportunity to offer Loki a deal: end Thanos's life in exchange for his own. Loki knows defeating Thanos will be no easy feat and so a conversation with the Norns becomes part of the bargain.
The Norns tell him three things:
1. His only path to success lies in utilising the Infinity Stones
2. The Infinity Stone contained within the Tesseract – the only stone he will ever wield – will not be enough on its own
3. The name of a potential ally who has the highest capacity to both wield another one of the Infinity Stones and collaborate alongside himAnd that name... That name is Tony Stark.

The tale of how Loki survives Thanos's attack on the Statesman and proceeds to completely muckup the entire timeline of Infinity War, so with the power of the Time Stone, just decides to give them all a re-do. Give them time enough to get the Asgardians to Earth in safety, to win over one billionaire, genius, playboy philanthropist and hopefully, defeat Thanos. All with some time for a little mischief.

Summary
One would think that waking up in a fancy tower in New York City instead of a jail cell in Asgard would be a good thing, but not when the plan was Alfheim. There's no question that waking up in a jail cell in Asgard is not preferable to your fancy tower in New York City.
Oh, and there's the whole issue about being in the wrong body, that might be a bit of an issue.
