“Liza,” Maria starts, and Eliza can’t help but smile at the nickname. “I am so sure. We’ve been talking about fostering for years!” Eliza knows she’s right, but continues to press.
“I know we have, and I know you’ll be an incredible foster mom. But do you think, in this case, her…situation might be a little too close to home for you?” Eliza opens the folder again. She doesn’t want Maria to think Eliza thinks she’s weak, because she never could. Maria’s the strongest person Eliza’s ever met. But, Eliza thinks, and she feels terrible for doing so, what if this is different? What if this is too much?
