    Bookmarker's Notes

    Just one chapter from the end I remember to bookmark this. The liveliness of this author gives the sedate Regency setting a delightful jolt of energy, and if Heyer were still alive and writing fanfic this would delight her

    Summary

    As soon as Aubrey Thyme, psychotherapist, had opened her office door and seen her new client, Anthony J. Crowley, sitting in her waiting area, she was observing and assessing him. At first glance, she paid attention to the following:

    --His clothing was expensive and stylish;
    --He wore very strange but noticeable cologne;
    --His relationship to the seat he occupied could only, very loosely, be described as “sitting;”
    --He looked angry;
    --He was wearing sunglasses.

    What Aubrey Thyme, a professional, thought, upon first seeing her new client was: you’re going to be a fun one, aren’t you?

    Bookmarker's Notes

    This beautiful novel made my journey across the continent go by in a flash. I love Aubrey Thyme and her self-image as well as her self-deceptions. How deftly the author treated her struggle with alcoholism, and her visit to London. What an amazing story they created for her--that consummate professional--and for Crowley. I'll be rereading this for sure.
