Frustrated by the fact that many cisgender writers assume all trans men are cutesy, adolescent, submissive, pre-op boys, I've decided to create beginner's guide to writing trans male characters. I hope it helps inform somebody's writing, and changes the way that fandoms view trans men.

There is a big difference between a trans man exploring his identity through fanfiction, and a cisgender writer repeatedly misrepresenting what it means to be FTM, usually for the purposes of a feminisation kink. If you're a cisgender writer with the best of intentions, I hope these guidelines and resources will assist you in improving your treatment of transgender men.

This is all based on my opinion, and my lived experience as an adult trans man. You can disregard or deeply consider my words, I don't really care which, all I ask is that you engage with me politely and respectfully. I can speak with confidence about how I, and many other trans men, feel. I'm offering a point of view. Take it or leave it.Series
