    Summary

There is a number saved in Meng Yao’s phone. Meng Yao doesn’t remember it.

Here, a snapshot of spidery memory: the laugh of a stranger, the imprint of a hand on Meng Yao’s shoulder. Pressure against his mouth. The taste of skin. A dark braid crowning a perfect undercut, snaking down between powerful shoulders.

There is a number saved in Meng Yao’s phone, a number that isn’t there but which he scrolls past in his contact history regardless. Every time he tries pressing ‘call’, the number… un-knows itself.

Some kind of Magnus Archives fusion, where Nie Mingjue appears to exist but not exist? And Meng Yao is haunted by the presence of a man who doesn't live in his apartment. [Complete, Ch. 1]

    Summary

Meng Yao’s posture is perfect as he turns his back to Nie Mingjue. He strides out of the hall with easy, steady steps. You could balance a tea service tray on his head, and the full cups would not spill a drop. He’s holding his head high, his hands tight against his body, not quite fists but something close.
When he stumbles, his hand twitches, as if he wants to reach out and balance himself, to lean against the wall and breathe, to clutch at his robes, press a fist against his wound. Instead, he recovers, the twitch having lasted for barely a second. It would have been invisible to anyone not paying close attention.
    Nie Mingjue sees it.

Some sappy self-indulgent NieYao because it's been a rough everything.

I think this CQL, not MDZS, really, so I've no real clue what's up with the timeline, but Nie Mingjue bandages Meng Yao's wound after exiling him from Qinghe but before he actually leaves. [Complete, Ch. 1]

    Summary

Jin Guangyao knows that something is wrong the second he opens his eyes and sees not the gilded canopy of his bed in Jinlintai, but the pines of Qinghe, dark and green against a cold grey sky.
Nie colours. He remembers what they looked like against his skin, even though he wishes he didn’t. Like it was only yesterday that he was there, wearing different robes and a different name. Only yesterday, instead of a lifetime ago.

Jin Guangyao wakes up in Qinghe, face to face with the last person he wanted to see. Himself.
