In all honesty, he has no idea where the question came from, why he’s asking it now without any preamble. But it’s out and he peels his eyes away from his ice cream to check Mayor Mills’ reaction. Which is wide-eyes and shellshock and hands tightening around the purse in her lap. And damn, if he isn’t curious now.

Henry grows suspicious of why he looks so much like Mayor Mills and why everyone keeps telling him that his father is a man who resembles him so little. While he investigates the true origins of his birth, Emma and Regina grow closer in the background over stolen hearts and vengeful sisters and Henry might get more in the end than he bargained for.

And Regina’s heart bottoms out, she feels dizzy for a second, grapples for any sense of confidence and control that usually comes so easily to her. It’s what she has wanted to hear for years, years of envisioning Emma telling her she feels the same, of them finally allowing themselves to be a them, no more soulmates or pirates or fate keeping them apart.
