Summary
Originally a Twitter threadfic:
Wei Wuxian never made it out of the Burial Mounds, and eventually his family gave him up for dead. Then a mysterious immortal appeared, saving the cultivation world from Wen Ruohan without ever letting himself be seen.
After the war, the sects start making offerings to the Yiling Laozu, hoping to curry favor with this powerful immortal. Things spiral out of control when sects start offering up people—including Lan Wangji.
They don't start a sect on the Burial Mounds.
They don't!
Until they do.

Wei Wuxian has been betrothed to Lan Wangji since they were children, but the Cloud Recesses Guest Lectures is the first time they've actually met.
They didn't get along at first, but Wei Wuxian thought maybe he was growing on his future husband. Except said future husband has been ignoring him recently—and not in the fun way. Summary
Wei Wuxian fell... and landed on a sidewalk 600 years in the future. Right in front of Lan Zhan and Lan Xichen, modern cultivators on their way home from a cultivation conference.
A surprising amount of historical information has been lost to time - some due to natural destruction, some due to rampant revisionism. In particular, the true identity of the Yiling Laozu has been erased from history, with no sect willing to claim him and everyone eager to hide any ties they once had to him.
As Wei Ying helps the Lans fill in the missing pieces of history, Lan Zhan knows there are things he’s not telling them. He also knows that it doesn’t matter what those secrets are; nothing will keep him from standing at Wei Ying’s side.
Eventually, Wei Wuxian has to face the fact that he can’t correct some of history’s most important oversights without coming clean about his identity. Proving to the world that he is who he says he is takes them to Lanling, where they unearth history even he didn’t know about.

He takes the children to buy black suits, he leaves them behind in the apartment, twelve-year-old A-Huan assuring him he’s old enough to be left alone with his brother, to go to their house and oversee it being packed up, the furniture sold, the personal effects of his brother and his wife put in storage.
There’s no room for decisions or education. Only him sitting at his table with two children, eating in silence, only hearing A-Huan whispering to his brother in the middle of the night, only the three of them all tangled up together with grief and confusion and pain.
And the certainty that he isn’t… that he won’t be a good parent.

The guy is so stupid hot that Wei Ying doesn’t turn away in time. He can’t be absolutely sure, but he thinks the guy sees him sort of turned towards him. Not as bad as being caught outright staring at someone on the subway, except that it’s actually probably worse, because they’re in the cultivation gym’s locker room.
