Summary
When Roger takes his newborn son to visit Freddie, hearts are opened and a plan is formulated.
Freddie was playing the piano, his head bowed in concentration. Even through the velour of his tracksuit, Roger could plainly see sharpness in his bones that hadn't been so pronounced just a few weeks ago, and there were little hesitations in the chord changes when his frail fingers couldn't quite keep up with the music in his head.

Allongé: A ballet term describing a position that is stretched or elongated.
Roger had spent the better part of a decade sitting at the back of Queen, and up until tonight he had considered himself to have the best seat in the house. It was only at this moment that he truly understood what it was like to be hit smack in the face by the sheer force of Freddie Mercury's charisma.
Roger attends the Royal Ballet Gala.

Summary
After a tough day watching the others record "Back Chat," Brian goes to a bar and nurses a beer or six.
Having a normal job might not be so terrible, Brian thought as he signaled for the waiter to bring him another beer. People in normal jobs led safe, ordinary lives. They didn't get close enough to their co-workers to consider them brothers, didn't long for their approval, weren't willing to fight and die for them.
People in normal jobs didn't get stabbed in the back by harsh words gleefully sung to a catchy disco tune.

Approach-Avoidance: Conflict involving a decision regarding whether to pursue or avoid something that has both positive and negative aspects to it.
The events before, during, and after the band meeting in Jim Beach's office. Brian's POV.
"Christ," Freddie moaned. "I have cocked this up beyond all hope of redemption."
Brian had even missed this part of Freddie's complicated ego, the ability for him to wax dramatic about absolutely anything. "I'm not sure how you could've done a better job of breaking up the band," he commented, nudging Freddie's arm a bit to lessen the blow.
"Fuck the band, darling - I broke DEACY."

Summary
They'd played in front of massive audiences before, of course, but after the painful years apart and the devastating news of Freddie's illness, this day was exceptional. It was something to be treasured, savoured, to be repeated down the generations like the heroes' tales of old.
Queen has a couple of hours between their Live Aid performance and the duet between Freddie and Brian. Roger overthinks things, John makes tea, Brian can't get his hair dry, and Freddie just wants to be with his boys.Bookmarked by Paronomasian
