"I need you, I need you to tell me it's okay," Dean begs, holding Sam's gaze, "You tell me it's okay."
Sam swallows hard and opens his mouth to respond, "Dean, it's-"
"No, it's not."
Sam jumps at the interruption, Dean slowly slides his eyes past Sam's shoulder. He knows that voice. Fuck, does he know that voice. Guess Jack must've pulled him out after all.
"It's not okay, Dean," Cas says, stepping around Sam. "You're not going anywhere, not yet, not if I have any say in it."

Summary
There's a massive bar piercing between Dean's shoulder blades, because of course there is. Happy ending my ass, Dean thinks hysterically, is this really how I'm gonna go?
"I'll go get the first aid kit," Sam runs out of the barn. Cas moves to follow before-
"Cas, wait. Wait," Cas meets Dean's eyes, and Cas feels like he's the one run through for a second. Looking at Dean, he's scared. He's so scared. Dean's spent his whole life pretending he wasn't, but all the walls are down now - and he's terrified, "Stay. Don't leave me."

Basically a slight AU where they pulled Cas out of the empty before they go to the vamp nest so he's with them and it's not like, depressing as hell.

Dean is just trying to cope with losing the love of his life, doing his best to pretend he's fine, when a seemingly normal monster hunt turns out to have cosmic involvement.
Because the finale was not my cup of tea: No one dies, certain angels come back to life (on screen) and Dean gets to show that he is a good dancer.
