Calliope has her crossbow raised before her brain fully processes what she’s seeing. “What are you doing here?”
Juliette just shrugs, taking a large gulp from a red gas station slushie.

“That’s alright, Juliette. There’s not much to think about anyways, is there? But hey-” Crossing muscled arms behind his head, Theo leaned back against his seat, knees bumping against the back of the passenger seat, earning a warning mumble from Carmen, a half-threat of turning him into a frog, before she began to doze back off into a light nap. Chuckling to himself, brown eyes locked back onto blue-green ones, amused. “-at least we’re going somewhere new, yeah? Fresh air, a new place, new people; it’ll be fine, Juliette. It’ll be all fine. Trust me, yeah?”
It felt strange that such kind words were the most reassuring things she could have ever received, even after warning him. Maybe that was a similar trait to all of the Burns, kindness to those closest to them, even if not related. Or maybe it was because she and the others were all he had left in his new life, but nevertheless, it was soothing. Chin digging into her collarbone, the teenager nodded faintly, eyes shut tight and dark-brown hair shifting side to side, sticking to the sides of her face. A sharp exhale through her nose, and thin lips parted to reply.
