Lightless as this night is, somehow Ei seems to glow under the golden lanterns of the palace like an impressionism piece of art, all hazy around the edges and vibrant in the most unexpected ways. Her Excellency shifts, hand reaching to pour more into both of their cups—before she tilts forward into Miko’s own space, steady digits holding onto the now-full ceramic container, not even a ripple on the surface.
