The thing about the bond between Wilbur and Tommy was simply that no one seemed to understand just who they were.
Wilbur Soot was more than just TommyInnit’s brother. Wilbur was the one to raise him. Wilbur was the one there when he took his first steps. Wilbur was the one who heard his first words.
Unlike most would believe, Tommy’s first word had been sunshine. Or, rather, something close to it. There was little need to speak when it was just the two of them. It was Tommy’s fifth or sixth broken word that really describes his relationship with Wilbur.
“Dada!”
Tommy remembers when Wilbur first told him that story.

Mumbo had no clue what Chiroptera meant for a potion effect, though the pixelated bat under the potion name seemed to imply it was something about the caves. And it didn’t have a time limit on it either, which was also highly atypical.

Tommy was safe now.
And some days he was completely nonverbal, struggling to even do the bear necessities.
But that was alright.
Sometimes Wilbur struggled with that too.
He slowly started to show Tommy simple signs.
A way for him to have a voice and to be able to communicate when his words failed him.
It wasn’t perfect.
But it was a start.
Tommy was an absolutely brilliant kid, and nothing was going to stop him from reaching his potential, Wilbur could just see it.
