“I’ve left my husband,” said Petunia. “He’s gone. Divorce papers in the mail.”

Remus looked up. She was still staring at the wall, her face very hard and set. “I’m very flattered, but unfortunately I’m gay.”

“I thought I could sense something off about you.”

“That might be the fact I’m a werewolf.”

    “Good grief."

    Summary

1981 and all of its losses - the Longbottoms' deaths, Remus Lupin's disappearance - sent Sirius Black spinning, but ten years later, he finally believes he's doing alright. With the help of the Potters, he's emerged on the other side as a philanthropist and general do-gooder. He can even, thanks to therapy, manage a patronus for the first time in his life. Its lupine shape just means he's made peace with that particular bit of heartbreak, right?

But then on a trip to Burlington, VT, Sirius' path crosses with Remus' again, and maybe - just maybe - that patronus means something else.

AU details: Remus left London in the summer of 1981 and hasn't contacted anyone since. The Longbottoms died instead of the Potters, RIP Frank and Alice. Title is a reference to Adele's "Water Under the Bridge."

tl;dr: Wolfstar pining in Vermont. This is Sirius's POV of my "Honey If I'm Not" but you don’t need to read that first! (Though if you want to read both, I'd suggest starting with Remus').

TW: This is M, "Honey if I'm Not" is T, which means both sex and slightly more adult themes around chronic illness and (past) substance abuse. I'll include trigger warnings in chapter notes.

    Summary

Sirius Black is a rich snob. Remus Lupin works two minimum wage jobs to make ends meet. When they cross paths at the restaurant where Remus works as a waiter, it does not go well.

But then Sirius is disowned and disinherited after coming out as gay and he is forced to get a job at the same restaurant where Remus works. Then, life happens.

    OR...
Remus has been abandoned too many times and is afraid of love. He has resigned himself to the belief that he is better off alone because, in his experience, his chronic illness is too heavy a burden on everyone around him. Love just isn't meant for someone like him.

Sirius has spent his entire life obsessed with romance and dreaming of finding a love like the movies. So when his abusive family tries to arrange a marriage for him, he decides to come out publicly to prevent it. He is subsequently cast out into the real world, which leads him to Remus.

Love, as it turns out, is a lot more complicated than the movies.

    Summary

Captain Sirius Black had long prided himself on outrunning (or, considering his career as a Privateer, out-sailing) any commitments whatsoever beyond following the call for adventure. It was then, perhaps, one of Fate’s greatest jokes that he was about to be irrevocably selected as lifetime companion by the most loyal and stubborn of beings, and one who was also absolutely guaranteed to outlive him.

This is the story of how Sirius Black adopted a dragon named Padfoot.

Or, perhaps more accurately, this is the story of how a dragon named Padfoot adopted one Sirius Black.

It is also the story of how Captain Sirius Black met and fell hopelessly in love with one Lieutenant Remus Lupin, long-time dragon aviator fighting in the Napoleonic Wars, and, because Fate really does love irony, the only man on British soil less partial to commitment than himself.

    But that part comes later.

First, we must turn our eyes to the bustling ports of Istanbul, where one frantic James Potter and his placid dragon, Prongs, are either swearing voraciously (James), or calling attention to particularly interesting cloud formations (Prongs), as they have just missed their boat…

    Summary

“I mean it, you know,” he says, and Adam meets his gaze. “Whatever weird shit you’re secretly all about, I’m not gonna judge.”

“Why, because you know you don’t have a leg to stand on?”

(Adam and Ronan cover some new sexual ground, but first: repression.)
