“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Rio replies, grossly satisfied smirk plastered on his stupid face.
Beth honestly can’t recall the last time she properly celebrated a valentine’s day. It’s been probably seven years ago? Maybe eight. And, if she’s truly honest, calling it ‘celebrating’ might be overdoing it. While it was a fond memory – Dean and she went out for dinner at a new Hawaiian themed restaurant in town, saw the final Fast and Furious movie in theatre (that part of the memory is very clear, Dean was very emotional – blubbering into her blouse, really). But it was. Nice.
“Exciting, huh?” he continues.
“Should have left sooner, now we’re lucky if we have the night,” she replies, matching the smug look on his face.
“All I need, mama.”

Rio chuckles and holds his hand up.
Jolts of heat rush from her chest towards her cheeks as she sees the dark red streaks of her blood tainting his fingers. She’s not completely sure if her body’s prickly because she’s embarrassed, excited, or maybe a little bit of both. And when he starts moving those fingers towards her lips to touch them and softly drags them – and she lets him – along the ridged flesh, she feels like her skin melts. His brows frown, so concentrated as if painting a masterpiece.

She can tell Rio is very much considering this new offer. She leans forward, trying to guess Rio’s response from the thoughtful look on his face. She’s surprised when his gaze flits to her momentarily. Usually she’s just a background art piece to admire once business had been conducted.
“I’ll agree to those terms,” Rio says finally, some of the tension leaking from the atmosphere. “Under one condition.”
Andre leans back in his chair, his shoulders slumping slightly. “What’s that?”
“I get to spend a night with her.”
