There is a ghost on the Wani. But the crew have grown used to - even fond of - Prince Zuko. And no matter how many times General Iroh tries to gently explain the boy’s predicament, tries to suggest that he might attempt to move on, Prince Zuko can always be found watching the sea.
There is a prisoner in the palace.

“Zashisan?” Eri asked, swinging her feet as she sat on the counter.
“I get to stay, right?”
Hizashi almost burst into tears at that. What was he supposed to say? He’d fight tooth and nail to keep her with them, but they were up against the HPSC, one of Japan’s most powerful entities.
No. He couldn’t think like that.
“Of course, Eri-chan. This is your home. You’ll always have me and Shosan.”
There's only one way to keep Eri out of the Commissions's hands, and it's legally adopting her. But only married couples can adopt in Japan.
The solution is obvious, really. Shota and Hizashi already act like an old married couple anyway.
Three years ago, a boy died in a dishonorable duel. Three years ago, a spirit disappeared. Three years ago, someone else was born.
(Yeet, IDK what I'm doing)

Shouta’s plan had been ill-defined and desperate from the start, but he figures the important shit boiled down to, “Change as little as possible, make sure Midoriya doesn’t get himself killed, and stock up on lychee jelly pouches because that flavor got discontinued three years from now.” Keeping it simple’s always better, and he’s normally good at improvising.
Somewhere along the way, he must’ve fucked up since now he has:
A quirkless problem child hanging off of his every word
His best friend going through a sexuality crisis thanks to said problem child’s mom
His other best friend clinging to him like a security blanket
Some two-bit mob boss threatening him with bouquets of daffodils
To wring the number one hero’s fucking neck for not telling him anything useful before sending him decades into the past
All he did was walk Izuku Midoriya home. It wasn’t meant to turn into whatever mess this is.

Aizawa Shouta's older sister ran away from home a quarter of century ago, and he hasn't seen her since. Midoriya Inko has no contact with any blood relations besides her son. And Midoriya Izuku, despite being born to fourth-generation quirk users, has a vestigial toe joint.
Unintentional nature vs nurture experiments certainly make life a lot more interesting.
