They were a liability. A danger, not just to him but inevitably to the poor unfortunate who turned out to be linked to him.

Summary
An alternate take on the first season and very early second season of Stargate: Atlantis. OC's and alternate interpretations abound, weaving in and out of canon. Doctor Osbourne was a character I carried over from one episode of Stargate SG1 for this series. I didn't write further stories because about the time I got to writing second season, they killed Carson, and that ripped the heart out of me. I found it very difficult to write further in the SGA universe after that.

“He’s being weird, Ed!”
“Iz’s a weird dude, mate, what’s new?” Ed flops out on the chaise, stretching out his leg, wincing as he bends his knee, and Stede’s already moving towards the cabinet he keeps his medicinal oils in, hoping Ed’s not in one of the moods where he feels the urge to argue with him over whether or not massaging out the sore muscles is worth the effort Stede puts into it.
His shoulders settle as Ed starts on the buckles of his belt.
or: Izzy Hands' loyalty is a rare enough commodity that only one person has ever actually managed to keep it. Ed doesn't know how to explain to Stede that Izzy might be trying to spread it out to two people. As if Stede would believe him anyway.
