To complicate it further, Waverly finds herself caught in the middle of their feud when she is unexpectedly drawn to Nicole. Worst of all?     Nicole offered me the suntan lotion to apply to her back. Hawaiian Tropic. Next to coconut body wash, the smell was divine. The bottle in one hand, a sufficient amount squeezed onto the other, I waited for Nicole to position herself so I could apply the clear liquid oozing through my fingers.

    I felt her muscles respond to my touch, taking my time so she wouldn’t burn. The smell, the sensation, the sea lapping against the shore, had me begging the Universe for us to be alone.

    Three words escaped my lips. Is that enough?

    One word escaped hers. Never...
