Robbe found himself going over what had just happened again and again. He felt guilty about saying he wasn’t for whatever they were starting to do. He didn’t feel comfortable with it, even though Sander had looked sexy. Maybe he should have just gone with it, because Sander was certainly getting into it. Maybe he should have let Sander have some fun. He deserved the best, and Robbe felt guilty for not being the best. For not just doing what Sander had wanted. Robbe knew, though, that Sander would have felt even worse if he thought he was forcing Robbe to do something he didn’t want to do. He knew, not even deep down, that Sander would have utterly hated himself if he found out that Robbe had forced himself to do what Sander wanted.

He wouldn’t say he was happy, because if he was happy, then he wouldn’t be in the situation that he was in. He wouldn’t have made the choices that he made. But he’s made up his mind, and it filled him with a calm sense of resolution. This is how it will be. This is what he has chosen, how he decides to do things. He was tired of his papa making choices for him that he didn’t like. He was tired of just going along with everything that his friends wanted to do. He was tired of it all, tired of everything.

Jens was having a smoke on the balcony when he heard someone come to stand beside him. He knew it wasn’t Moyo, he would have said something. The shadow was too tall to be Robbe, and Aaron’s ever present lingering smell of weed wasn’t there. So it had to be Sander.
“Why don’t you like me?” Sander asked.
Jens turned to look at him. They were silent for a moment, and Jens considered lying. “Because you fucked up my best friend for a long time. I know he’s happy now, but he was seriously hurting, dude.”
