It's Kara's first Earth-Birthday since she was freed from the Phantom Zone so her friends go all out and surprise her with a visit by her parents. Zor-El and Alura have another plan, though, determined to unite their beloved daughter under an ancient Kryptonian practice.

He set two wooden boxes on the table, one carved with their house symbol and the other carved a simple ‘L’. Kara was flooded with the memory of seeing similar boxes in her parents room where they would put their wristbands that bonded them in marriage.
“Kara, my lovely daughter, I had long since given up on the idea that I’d have the honor of bestowing you with one of Krypton’s eternal traditions.
