Kim Dokja is many things. For better or for worse.

He would be dead without reading.
Hell, everybody might be dead if he wasn’t a reader.
But being a reader had also meant being the Most Ancient Dream, splitting himself into 51% and losing himself to the stars.
But, he thinks, his last thought before sleep overtakes him, there’s nothing they can do to stop him from being a reader now.

Kim Dokja gets de-aged as a result of a mishap with an artifact, post-epilogue. Uncomfortable truths come out.
(Or, they love Kim Dokja, no matter what form he’s taken.
He doesn’t know what to do with this much love.)

When he wakes up again, it’s to a whole group of people, most of which are noisy and loud.
He lies there in the soft blanket for a minute, taking in the details of a hospital room, and noting the IV going into the crook of his elbow. He attempts to sit up, wincing when it pulls at the mess of his chest.
There’s an odd weight on one of his legs, and there’s a fluffy...creature resting on it, curled into his side. It’s warm.
The room goes quiet all of a sudden, and he finds himself staring back at an odd assortment of people.

He isn’t afraid of falling. He’s afraid of landing. Cracking his head against the concrete, not getting back up. Blood spilling over the pavement, spilling over the circus grounds. He’s fallen before, but he never feels afraid until he hits the ground.

“Just hear me out,” Yuuri presses. He can feel heat burning behind his eyes and he grits his teeth, fighting back the tears. If he cries now, Victor will be too occupied with comforting him to actually pay attention to what he’s saying. “I want you to be happy.”
“I am,” Victor grounds out, confused and hurt. “I’m happy with you. What even gave you the idea that I’m not?"
“Because I’m never going to win gold!” Yuuri shouts. His words echo like a gunshot, and the silence that follows it is haunting.
(In which Victor is gold--magnificent, breathtaking, brilliant--and Yuuri is glass--transparent, thin, breakable.)
